Navigating The Edge of Beauty
Painting the human figure is about exploring our fascination with the beauty we are often drawn to. It can be like enjoying a good outdoor scene or arranged flowers, but less often, the female figure is explored in a way that is well understood in crime fiction, but less so in visual art. Who wants a crime scene hanging on their wall, even if they are a huge fan of the writing of Lee Child, Elmore Leonard, or even Agatha Christie? Few people want to so publically associate themselves with the darker side of their interests. I certainly wouldn't, but I also grapple constantly with creating "pretty decorations" (which I often do!!)
